Family Group Conference Co-ordinators will be offered work under a self-employed basis and will be registered with HMRC. Co-ordinators will be called upon from a pool of available commissioned Contractors to undertake Family Led Decision Making, Mediation and Advocacy pieces of work. Independent Coordinators will need to have the capacity and time to work within working office hours, as well as some possible evenings and weekend work, so flexibility is key to the role.

Purpose:
It is an exciting time to join the Family Group Conference, Mediation and Advocacy Service in Slough Children First and be part of a relatively new team and service as it evolves and develops. All FGC Coordinators will be/or are already trained in Family Group Conferences, Mediation and Advocacy to ensure that the team have full expertise, skills, knowledge and training to meet the demands and challenges of the service offered in SCF.
These Family Led Decision Meetings ensure that children, young people, adults, and families, are appropriately supported to understand the concerns of professionals and are empowered or indeed repowered to utilise their knowledge, skills, rich resources of their family, friends and community networks to make sure their agreed plans are safe, sustainable, future focused and achievable.
Main Responsibilities:
To facilitate and deliver high quality Family Led Decision Making Meetings, Mediation and Advocacy processes for Slough Children First, in accordance with the identified policies, practice standards and aims of the Service, including embracing the Children’s Social Care Reforms and Stable Homes Built on Love Strategy and expectations, within a framework of equality of opportunity that responds appropriately to the needs of individual families, children and young people from diverse backgrounds, dynamics and complexities.
The service support families to make safe decisions and plans for children and young people within the context of a Family Group Conference; mediation and advocacy, strengthening family involvement and promoting relational working to achieve collaboration and understanding.
FGC Coordinator’s negotiate, facilitate, mediate, and advocate early intervention and preventative processes in a variety of settings that keep children, young people, and adults’ voices at the forefront within key decision-making forums, which evidences positive outcome impacts.
